This "Household Model" may challenge your understanding...but
think about the way things should be at home.
In our "Household Model"...
- Each home has a household staff that meets the particular needs
of the 17 to 28 residents who reside in that home.
- The resident's day and routine is directed by the choices (what
to wear, what to eat, what activity they want to be a part of....)
they, the resident, make.
We usually spend most of our lives creating our
home. We decorate, make memories and enjoy time with others...in our
home. How about holiday memories? Normally those memories revolve
around our home. Our residents and their families need to have Home
in long term care so they can continue enjoying these types of opportunities
and feel comfortable when visiting, eating, celebrating or just being
together.
But it takes everyone believing in this vision
and mission because...
Everyone deserves a place to call home! |

Think about how you like to enrich your life with
things that you enjoy. We want our lives to have meaning, fullness,
joy and riches. Each resident is unique and each member of the Household
Staff is responsible for discovering the life enrichment interests
of each person living in the home.
Everything planned and offered in the home is
designed around what the residents of the household want; whether
it is in the morning, afternoon or evening. Each Household Staff
supports resident desires through one-on-one enrichment as well
as through Household Gatherings and Community Events.
Family and Friends are Stakeholders in the home
and are an important part in the life of the home. The goal of each
Household Staff is to help families support their loved one and
live out an enriched and meaningful life.
Our Household Model Values
- "We value person-centered care, focusing first on each
individual's unique personality and how they wish to live each
day.
- We value elders, families and staff as integral team members
working together to create a fulfilling and meaningful life for
all.
- We value self led teams that decide among themselves the most
appropriate individual and team responses to the needs and desires
of elders.
- We value "home" as relating to each individual heart's
desire and strive to enable the choices and quality that elders
enjoyed in their own homes. Each is respected as an individual
and shares in decision making.
- We value community, where members live, work and socialize;
where they are actively engaged and determine for themselves how
to give and receive within their friendships, household, neighborhood,
city, state, and country.
- We value growth--in education (knowledge) as both means and
end. By deeply investing in staff, resident and family growth,
we further community, enhance the possibilities of individual
fulfillment and set an implicit standard that guides our behavior
as an organization." (3)
Life Enrichment
Think about the things that enrich your life and bring you joy.
No matter what your age you deserve those things that bring you
happiness and contentment. Each Household Staff member seeks to
discover the life enrichment interests of each of their residents.
The Household Staff is supported and directed by the Life Enrichment
Guide for the home.
Each Household Staff member is tasked with the
responsibility of enriching the lives of their residents through;
one-on-one activities, during small Household gatherings and through
their support and involvement in community events.
The Household Staff is also there to encourage
families in their support and involvement in enriching the lives
of their loved ones.

A
resident centered dining experience has come to Greenbrier Village.
Residents, resident families and our staff eat The Rose Garden Cafe.
Our cafe features "home-style" cooking made to order.
A waiter or waitress will greet you, take your
order and serve you a wonderful meal, that you select, from The
Rose Garden Cafe's menu.
Resident menus are free of pricing because their
meals are included in their rent. Guests, resident families and
friends select from a priced menu. The priced menu, located at the
reception desk, includes taxes.
At the Cafe', special diets are followed and
residents that are unable to make a menu choice receive a nutritionally
balanced meal selected by the staff. Those needing help with eating
will receive individualized attention. Room service is available
when necessary.
